The 20th annual National Mosquito Control Awareness Week may be coming to a close, but there’s still a full slate of mosquito-centric events filling out the remainder of summer.
Though you might’ve missed McCrory, Arkansas’s “Mosquitofest” on May 20th, as well as June 4th’s offerings in both Adamant, Vermont – Thirteenth Annual Blackfly Festival – and Milo, Maine – Black Fly Festival – you still have several upcoming opportunities that span the nation. Let us review them…
Mosquito Festival – Clute, Texas
Like running? How about the Mosquito Chase 5K Run on Saturday morn? It starts at 7am at the Clute Municipal Pool.
Do BBQ food and cookouts strike your fancy? An IBCA (International Barbecue Cookers Association)-sanctioned BBQ and Fajita Cook-off goes down Friday and Saturday at the Clute Municipal Park. Saturday will see the main event, which offers the following divisions of competition: Beef Fajita, Chicken, Pork Spare Ribs, and Brisket. On Friday, meanwhile, you will be able to observe the special Grill Master event.
If these don’t sound appealing, you will also have your pick of musical acts – Ryan Beaver, Andy Griggs, Roger Creager, and Blackberry Smoke to name a few – horseshoe- and washer-pitching competitions, “Senior Citizen’s Bingo,” and more.
